Orthodontics

Orthodontics

For us, orthodontics is not merely a matter of aesthetics. Our goal is to achieve a perfect smile and facial aesthetics, as well as to restore functional balance. Straight teeth not only boost self-confidence but also make chewing easier and help prevent future tooth decay, gum disease, and overloading of the temporomandibular joint.

Comprehensive orthodontics treatment

At our clinic, modern orthodontics combines precise aesthetics with long-term functional balance. Aligning teeth, resolving crowding, and closing gaps is not merely aesthetic: properly aligned occlusion fundamentally determines the efficiency of chewing and plays a key role in preventing tooth decay and periodontal disease.
In addition, the temporomandibular joint can become overloaded in the long term due to suboptimal bite alignment, so it is not advisable to wait for the unpleasant consequences that can result from delaying orthodontic treatment.

Early orthodontic treatment

Early orthodontic treatment

The goals of orthodontic treatment in childhood are…

  • to correct developmental abnormalities of the jawbones
  • to create space for the permanent teeth
  • to help children break bad habits
  • to guide growth using various appliances

…even before growth is complete. With timely intervention, later, much more complex or surgical procedures can often be prevented.

What should you know about early treatment?

Growth Management:

The best solution for treating jaw discrepancies (in terms of size) is for the patient to outgrow the discrepancy. This can be achieved through growth management. With orthopedic orthodontic appliances, we can stimulate and/or inhibit the growth of the two jaws.

Optimal timing:

The most effective results are achieved during the mixed dentition period (when both primary and permanent teeth are present), specifically during the adolescent growth spurt. We recommend the first consultation at age 7. At this age, discrepancies that can be treated conservatively and gently are already recognizable.

Long-term benefits:

Early correction can prevent the need for much more complex fixed orthodontic treatment later on, or even more invasive combined surgical-orthodontic treatment. It also establishes a stable foundation for the healthy positioning of permanent teeth.

TMD (Temporomandibular Dysfunction)

One of the most common groups of musculoskeletal disorders consists of various conditions affecting the muscles and temporomandibular joints in the head and neck region.

Main symptoms of TMD:

  • pain in the masticatory muscles and/or the temporomandibular joints
  • abnormal jaw movements
  • various noises from the temporomandibular joint (clicking, creaking, popping)

Causes of TMD:

  • malocclusion (improper tooth alignment)
  • previous trauma
  • stress
  • parafunctional habits (teeth grinding, clenching)
  • referred pain from other areas of the head and neck region

As can be seen, there are many possible causes of TMD, and treatment is always tailored to the individual. To alleviate symptoms, we use orthodontic treatment, splint therapy, and physical therapy for the temporomandibular joint to reduce pain and improve mobility.

Orthodontic treatment for adults – modern technology

There is no upper age limit for orthodontic treatment; we can achieve dramatic and long-lasting results at any age. The condition of the gums may, however, set a limit. With today’s modern techniques, we not only improve aesthetics but also ensure a more precise fit for dental restorations or implants.

Damon System

Less pain:
With today’s modern self-ligating appliances, we work with gentle, biological forces, making treatment gentler on the bone structure and causing less discomfort.
Efficiency and speed:
Unlike traditional rubber band retention, the Damon System’s self-ligating brackets minimize friction between the braces and the appliance’s brackets. This technology allows for faster and smoother tooth movement, significantly shortening the total treatment time.
Complex solutions:
The technology is ideal for teeth that have previously undergone root canal treatment or been fitted with crowns, as well as for patients who have suffered from periodontal disease, helping to restore misaligned teeth or close gaps between teeth.
Fewer check-ups, better hygiene:
The rounded-profile brackets, which do not require rubber bands, are not only more comfortable and gentler on the oral mucosa, but they are also stain-resistant and easier to clean during daily oral hygiene. This precise technology requires fewer office visits.
Thanks to our innovative technology, adult orthodontics is now a discreet, fast, and comfortable process that is less prone to plaque buildup, thereby fundamentally determining long-term oral health.
